Connect Earth

The tangle

After the first Climate Experience in Germany turned out to be a great success, the creators started looking for a second location. It was found in an old silo in the port area of Rotterdam. Now the plans still had to be adapted and modernized, and the Municipality had to be made enthusiastic. It became Connect Earth.

The disentangler

For Connect Earth, people wanted to work more with VR/AR and interactive screens. They didn’t have enough knowledge of that themselves, so I was called in. I made a project manual with all their wishes and requirements, and the problems they encountered. In consultation we translated this into my tasks and deliverables.

The disentangling

In Connect Earth, people can travel through 8 different climate areas on Earth. Such as a desert, rainforest, savannah and the polar regions.

Together with the creators, I adapted the plans of Climate Experience for a new location with new environments and adventures, and changed the name to Connect Earth.

I first made an extensive project manual with the creative team, and based on the wishes and requirements with the creative team, I made the basic layout of all theme areas, and based on this I made a number of concept design drawings. We have technically worked out the major effects that people want to apply, such as a small tornado, a tsunami water tank and an interactive aquarium.

The disentangled result

We have put together a complete plan and presented it to the Municipality of Rotterdam. The available location was first used for logistics and VIP events for the Eurovision Song Festival. Since then, the plan has been put on hold by the Municipality.
