Miko the Marmot

The tangle

A company had already created the Miko character as a mascot for a snow park. However, this still had to be fully implemented as an IP in the new indoor amusement park, and added to attractions. For example, a 3D film had to be made with Miko in the lead role. Because Miko was linked to projects in development, it was impossible to imagine in advance what all had to be thought of: Miko and Friends had to be created gradually. And that turned out to be difficult to implement by the company that had come up with Miko.

I joined the company to think along about attractions and Miko, and the combination of the two.

The disentangling

I started quickly developing the Miko characters and came up with a set of friends that can be added in stories. From this, a choice was made for characters that we could use in the 3D movie. A company that specializes in these kinds of films was asked come up with a script for the film based on my documentation, made a storyboard of it, and, after feedback and instructions, produced the film.
We also had a mascot suit made for promotional purposes. And we’ve arranged a wide variety of merchandise options.

The disentangled result

The 3D film has now been completed, the theming for the attractions has been devised, and there is a wide range of merchandise. The first Miko mascot suit was used at promotional events. The first park where Miko is applied is under construction, which has been delayed due to the Covid virus.
